Social Entrepreneurship @ UVa fosters the next generation of systems change entrepreneurs. FSG defines systems change, as “fundamental change in policies, processes, relationships, and power structures, as well as deeply held values and norms”. Systems Entrepreneurship Fellows are currently advancing the objectives of RVA Childhood Asthma Collaborative, which brings together asthma programs, resources, clinicians, specialists, caretakers, and parents to improve health and educational outcomes for children with asthma in the Greater Richmond Region. We look forward to collaborating with others around the country to continue this important work.

Joshua Ogburn

Joshua Ogburn is Project Director of RVA Childhood Asthma Collaborative, an initiative focused on improving health and lifestyle outcomes for at-risk children who have asthma across the Greater Richmond Region. From 2016 to 2019, Joshua served as Director of the University of Virginia Pay for Success Lab. Prior to this work, Joshua was a staff member for U.S. Senator Mark R. Warner (VA).

Joshua holds a Master of Public Policy from the University of Virginia’s Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, a Bachelor of Arts in Public and Urban Affairs from Virginia Polytechnic and State Institute (Virginia Tech), and an Associate of Arts from Colorado Mountain College.

Benjamin Hazelton

Ben Hazelton is a second-year Jefferson Scholar at UVA. At UVA, Ben plans to study Commerce and Foreign Affairs. Through his work with Student Entrepreneurs for Economic Development (SEED) and the Frank Batten Investment Fund, he is recognizing the importance of consulting and sustainable investments. Through SEED, Ben's consulting work with PureMadi, a South African water purification company, is helping the business address faulty health policy and provide greater access to clean water. After graduation, Ben hopes to attend graduate school and work at the intersection of policy and business to address significant issues.
