Freelance Social Media Request for Proposals due 1/31/2021
Social Entrepreneurship at the University of Virginia (SE@UVA) requests proposals from freelance social media experts to help guide strategy and execution for the organization’s social media channels. The selected Social Media Manager will work with the Director, Associate Director and board to develop a vision and plan between February 1 and July 1, 2021, with the possibility to continue into the next academic year.
Responsible for positioning SE@UVA as a thought leader and innovation driver on its social channels, the Social Media Manager will oversee audience growth and engagement, content planning, production, and posting to achieve SE@UVA social media goals. The Social Media Manager should have experience managing and growing social media platforms for a fast-growing brand.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, has excellent organizational skills, a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and a passion for our mission to train the next generation of social innovation leaders. This social media manager may work remotely from anywhere, with availability for meetings during regular office hours. Knowledge of and connections to the University of Virginia is a plus, as is general knowledge of social entrepreneurship and student engagement.
PROJECT SCOPE
Develop a long-term vision, goals, and strategies to grow SE@UVA as a thought leader and UVA as a leader in social innovation education on social media
Identify high-impact opportunities to increase the visibility of our programs, alumni, partners, and spokespeople
Create a social media editorial calendar for SE@UVA; write copy, edit, design, and post content;
Implement online advertising strategies for social media platforms, with a modest budget provided
Track key metrics to monitor the success of online engagement strategies
Guide and advise staff across the organization on effective and engaging opportunities to maximize visibility for the organization’s work
Support the execution of a social media influencer engagement program
Launch SE@UVA digital presence on new social platforms; monitor trends and emerging practices, and evaluate and recommend new platforms for adoption
The selected freelance professional would be responsible for submitting invoices and be paid as contract/consulting work.
QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal freelance candidate for this project has:
3-5 years of experience managing social media for a brand
Demonstrated expertise in managing professional social media profiles on Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook. Experience launching an organization’s presence on emerging platforms like TikTok is a plus
Basic experience with Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, SparkPost or other design platforms
A proven track record running successful social media campaigns, and ability to track reach and impact
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines required; ability to balance our work with that of your other clients
Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, organization, and attention to detail
Desire to be a team player with a flexible, creative, and analytical approach to problem-solving
