Research Conference on the Economics of Sustainable Development

The Center for Social Innovation at the University of Virginia (UVA) will be collaborating with the World Bank and George Washington University (GWU) to host a conference on “The Economics of Sustainable Development” on December 2nd, 2024.

The conference will focus on the necessity of environmental sustainability in tackling poverty and the need to address climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation. Academics and development economics alike will discuss specific topics such as biodiversity and forests, the economics of natural resources, and pollution. There will be an emphasis on the work being done in Africa because of their greater reliance on natural resources and susceptibility to climate change.

Join speakers Michael Greenstone, Andrew Dabalen, Richard Damania, Rémi Jedwab, and Sheetal Sekhri as they discuss some of the most relevant questions in sustainable development.
